Sunstreams, by the modern composer Ian Clarke, is a very moving, solo flute piece. Between the

piece being in E Major (the key sometimes symbolically used to represent nature) and the flowing middle section comprising a very long “run”, this piece reminds all who listen to it of the sun reflecting off of a flowing stream.

Personally, this piece was playing through my head when the signs of the coming Spring appeared in Narnia, such as when “The mist turned from white to gold and presently cleared away altogether,” (Lewis 120) and, “Shafts of delicious sunlight struck down on the forest floor” (Lewis 120). Spring in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe represents the coming of the generous and selfless Aslan to Narnia, the one who opposes greed and cruelty.

Thanks for listening!
